DJI, the market leader in consumer drones, launched its smallest and lightest drone Mavic Mini on 30th Oct 2019. The drone which weighs just 249g does not require FAA registration. DJI Mavic Mini is the successor of Spark, and the latter has been retired from the DJI drone product line.

DJI Mavic Mini is a portable drone featuring 12 MP camera and capable of recording 2.7k videos. The drone has 3-axis gimbal and live view quality is 720p at 30fps. The drone can reach an altitude of 3000m above sea level and also has 30 minutes of flight time. Mavic Mini also has dedicated remote controller. DJI Fly app helps pilots of all skill levels to easily fly the drone and pre-set templates allow for simplified video editing.

According to DJI website, Mavic Mini builds on the technological innovations from its portable predecessors. Roger Luo, president at DJI, said: “To design a drone as lightweight, compact yet capable as Mavic Mini was one of the most challenging projects we’ve ever tackled at DJI.”

DJI Mavic Mini is available for pre-order and shipping is expected to begin mid-November. The drone has two-purchase options- standard available at $399 and Fly More Combo for $499.
